Background
The Situation:
We are at a turning point for women, where advances in women’s rights are at threat from rising fundamentalisms, financial crises, political turmoil and backlash against feminism. Very important gains have been made in many frameworks, policies and laws that protect the rights of women, yet, the power dynamics that drive inequality between women and men remain in force at all levels.
Who are we:
We are a movement building entity. We love women and Believe in their advancement in the economic, social and political sphere.
We exist to strengthen pathways between young and older women who aspire to meaningfully contribute to the greater women’s movement in Uganda.
Theory of Change
Our theory of change is founded on the understanding that for a young woman to excel, in any space, she must mentally excel. She must be supported holistically in body satisfaction, livelihood support as well as given the tools she needs to lead. To be able to do this, we must challenge societal and policy barriers without leaving behind the biggest barrier which is mental.
It is premised on the idea that despite various national, continental and global legislation as to the equality of men and women, advancement in women’s right as well as the work of feminists, women and their organisations in Uganda, there still exists a gap between the younger feminists and older ones – women are yet to achieve their full potential and satisfactorily deliver on the promise to put the plight of fellow women first. To bridge this gap, work needs to be done in the areas of young women leadership development, body rights and economic advancement to enable us destroy the barriers and achieve a decent environment for young women to live in dignity and achieve their full potential in the sectors they choose to influence.
